HEALTH AND IMMUNITY
SUBTOPIC; THE CONCEPT OF HEALTH AND IMMUNITY.
COMPETENCE
Student should explain the concept of Health and Immunity.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
By the end of two(2) theory periods and four(4) practical periods, student should be able to understand, explain, differentiate and develop the concept of Health and Immunity 
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
By the end of six instructional periods, student should be able to define, mention, differentiate types of Immunity and  explain the meaning of Health.
TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS
Photographs/pictures/graphs showing people with good and poor health, Sample of Vaccines, Different textbook extracted on Health and Immunity.
TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES.
In classroom, teacher should guide students in their groups to observe and discuss different photographs/pictures/graphs showing people with good and poor health.
In laboratory, a teacher should guide students to observe proper laboratory rules, sitting properly and observer different samples of Vaccines used for immunization.
ASSESMENT
Is the student able to be define, differentiate, explain different types of immunity, their importances and state the factors affecting health and Immunity?
A teacher should provide different questions inform of quizzes, home assignments, group works, and practical works to determine if the students able to understand, explain, differentiate and develop the concept of Health and Immunity

SUBTOPIC; PREVENTION AND CONTROL MEASURES OF COMMON INFECTIONS AND DISEASES
COMPETENCE
Students should explain and apply prevention and control measures of common infections and diseases around their environment.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
By the end of four(4) theory periods and six(6) practical periods, student should be able to analyze and apply preventive and control measures of common infections and diseases around his/her environment.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
Student should be able to;
1.       Suggest appropriate preventive and control measures for common infections and diseases around their environment.
2.       Apply proper preventive and control measures for common infections and diseases around their environment.
TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS
o   Pictures showing prevention and control measures for common infections and diseases.
o    Video/radio tapes on preventive, control measures and effects of common infections and disease
o   Teaching Aids materials such as Mosquito nets, condoms,
TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES
In classroom, the teacher should group students into group of five(5), to observe and discuss pictures and Videos showing appropriate preventive and control measures for common infections and diseases around their environment.
In Biology laboratory, a teacher should guide the demonstration of the proper use of available materials such as mosquito nets, condoms,

SUBTOPIC; TREATMENT FOR COMMON INFECTIONS AND DISEASES
COMPETENCE
Student should understand the proper treatment for common infections and diseases around his/her environment.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
By the end of four (4) theory periods and six (6) practical periods, a student should understand and identify proper treatment for common infections and diseases.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
Student should be able to;
·         Identify different symptoms for infections and diseases common to his/her environment
·         Apply proper procedures for the treatment of common infections and diseases.
TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS
A guest speaker, different textbook extracted on treatment for different infections and diseases, Samples of Medicines, Radio/Video tapes showing different treatment of common diseases.
TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES
In classroom, the teacher should guide students into groups of five (5), to observe, analyze and discuss proper treatment for common infections and diseases around their environment.
In a Biology laboratory, a teacher should guide students on observation of different medicines used for treatment of common infections and diseases around their environment.
Teacher should use Radio and Video tapes to show students different treatment procedures for common infections and diseases.
Also the teacher should invite a health officer to talk and explain the proper treatment of common infections and diseases
ASSESMENT
Is the student able to understand, identify different symptoms and apply proper treatment for common infections and diseases around his/her environment?

OVERALL ASSESMENT FOR HEALTH AND IMMUNITY TOPIC ON FORM ONE STUDENTS
In order to promote students competence, therefore, the examiner is supposed to set the question paper for assessing students performance according to the given curriculum and distribution of marks on both theory and practical sessions.
The theory paper will cover 40% and the practical paper will cover 60% .
The design for theory question paper should be as following;
·         The concept of Healthy and Immunity(8 Marks)
*      Definitions of key terms(Health and Immunity)
*      Mention types of Body immunity
